Anthill's popular Tunnel Talk Event series is proud to launch...
Young Entrepreneurs' Night Out (NSW)
Are you...
And a desire to meet other like-minded business builders?
If so, you are invited to join Anthill as we launch 'Young Entrepreneur's Night Out' in a yet to be announced Sydney location on Tuesday 13 April 2010 (6pm-9pm).
The Facts...
When: Tuesday 13 April, 2010 (6pm-9pm)
Where: The Shelbourne, 200 Sussex St, Sydney, NSW, 2000
What: Meet and learn from other young business builders. Share a drink. Have a laugh. Gain insights from a panel of business builders. And most importantly of all, help us build a culture of entrepreneurship in NSW!
The Cost...
This event will cost you one dollar for every year you have lived on this planet.
Yup, attendance is priced to reflect the age of each attendee. This means that 35 year-olds will be required to pay $35 for attendance, while 18 year-olds will pay $18.
This seemed like a fair way to subsidise the cost of booze, finger food and some flights from Melbourne to Sydney. (Gotta give a little to get a little, right?)
Simply insert your age as the DISCOUNT code above (i.e. 29 to pay $29).
What you'll get...
Building a business at any age can be a lonely undertaking. But young entrepreneurs have it tougher than most. Our friends and parents often don't understand the complexities of running a business... or the personal stress that comes with the job.
Meet and learn from other young business builders. Share a drink. Have a laugh. Gain insights from a panel of business builders who have 'been there, done that' and created successful ventures. Benefit from the experiences of other attendees.
And most importantly of all, help us build a culture of entrepreneurship in NSW!
Bonus!
Thanks to our friends at Google, we have 20 free Adwords vouchers to give away.
Be among the first 20 people to register and you'll score a $50 voucher for free!
This is your chance to attract new customers to your website when they search for terms relevant to your business on Google. Google Adwords is one of the most cost-effective online advertising options available.
Our Speakers...
Jeremy Levitt
Jeremy Levitt once had a promising career at the international law firm
Allens Arthur Robinson.
For him, entrepreneurship was just a pipe dream, and it wasn’t until the moment he finally shook off the guilt associated with leaving the law firm that the dream became reality.
He has since founded two businesses, PodProperty and Serviceseeking.com.au, growing both at 10 to 24 percent month-on-month since the beginning of global financial crisis.
Kirsten Black
Kirsten Black started her entrepreneurial career developing her
innovative Halo
Headphones, which feature specially designed high fidelity speakers
that can be inserted into a comfortable headband.
After turning down an initial $200,000 offer for a 50 percent share in her product, Black worked for a number of years as crew member in the private yachting industry.
She came back to Australia with enough capital to fund the first production run of 5,000 units in 2008.
Jack Delosa
At 18, Jack Delosaignored the advice of family and friends and dropped out of university to pursue a business career.
He borrowed $20,000 from the bank and bought into a marketing company, becoming Managing Director, only to realise that the company was in decline. After a stint in Sydney at the National Sales Academy, Delosa returned to Melbourne, raised $50,000 in equity capital and launched Limitless Pty Ltd, offering seminars to thousands of Gen Y teenagers.
After a recent merger, his company has grown to well over $1m per annum in revenue and achieved over 500% revenue growth for FY 08/09.
Michael Fox
Having first dipped his toe into the legal profession, Michael wasn’t
destined for the courtroom. He went on to spend several years in
business management roles at retailer Supercheap Auto Group and then
with search engine Google.
While the prospect of remaining at Google was tempting, a startup was an even greater temptation that Michael felt so strongly about that he handed in his resignation, and turned his mind to ensuring the women of Australia are always well shod.
Michael blogs about his startup experiences at www.22michaels.com.
Julie Sweet
A yearning to become financially independent as "boss" and not
"employee" triggered the transition for Julie Sweet to set up her online
certificate operations.
Elegantly simple and clear in purpose, Sweet provides easy-to-access certificates such as birth, death, marriage and change of name (full originals) online.
While admitting that all the challenges she's faced have not been so sweet, she says it has taught her that "You are where you are because you choose to be".
James Tuckerman (MC)
James Tuckerman is the editor and founder of Anthill Magazine. At the age of 26, he quit a promising career in PR to launch an indepenent business magazine "with a sense of humour".
Since then, the business has evolved to become one of Australia's leading online communities for entrepreneurs and features among the Top 50 Business & Finance websites in Australia, according to Nielsen Online Ratings.
It is also home to Anthill Events (such as this one), Anthill Awards (such as 30under30) and a range of programs and tools to help business development.
Plus you!
We anticipate that our attendees will be an interesting mob (Yes, we're talking about you). Don't expect to be neglected from our MC's gentle probing.
In summary...
Meet and learn from other young business builders. Share a drink. Have a laugh. Gain insights from a panel of business builders who have 'been there, done that' and created successful ventures. Benefit from the experiences of other attendees.
And, most importantly of all, help us build a culture of entrepreneurship in NSW!
